Bratislava, May 16 (TASR) - Vice-premier Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) has called on the media to exercise caution in order not to disseminate potentially untrue information regarding the attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) life and the current situation, while also urging them also to attempt to avoid confrontation during political debates.
Speaking after a session of the Slovak Security Council and the government on Thursday, Kalinak called for a mutual return to tolerance.
Kalinak specifically addressed media preparing political talk shows. "Let's try to skirt confrontational debates at this time, let's change the structuring of production in order to give room to everyone with whom you want to talk, but also make it possible to have a little less confrontation and to speak factually about the problems troubling us. Let's try to embrace the path of tolerance together," he said
The vice-premier added that the government will inform the public about developments in the aftermath of the shooting that are not subject to confidentiality. In this context, he warned of the risk of disseminating half-truths or outright lies that might stir up passions again.
