Bratislava, May 15 (TASR) - The shooting of Premier Fico (Smer-SD) as one of the most senior state representatives is an unprecedented threat to Slovak democracy, president-elect Peter Pellegrini has said on Facebook.
"I am horrified at what hatred of a different political opinion can lead to. We don't have to agree on everything, but there are many ways to express our disagreement democratically and legally," Pellegrini wrote, adding that if people express different political opinions with guns on the streets instead of at polling stations, they threaten everything that has been built over the past 31 years of Slovak sovereignty.
"I wish the prime minister a speedy recovery. And I very much wish that such a senseless and brutal act becomes the target of universal condemnation," Pellegrini remarked.
