Bratislava, May 15 (TASR) - After Wednesday's attack on Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), it's important not to escalate the situation, sociologist and Focus agency director Martin Slosiarik told TASR, adding that blaming certain groups of the population or the political spectrum would further divide society.
"In a democratic society, such a way of addressing differences of opinion is unacceptable. In the civilised world it is simply not done in this way," he stressed.
Slosiarik criticised the fact that the boundaries of decent behaviour are sometimes crossed in politics, which is also perceived by ordinary citizens. He added that in the case of Wednesday's attack, we do not yet know the motivation of the attacker. Therefore, he said, it is not correct to blame a particular social group for the attack.
